with Dick Arrowood & Dwedney Renowned wine-maker Richard Arrowood, formerly of Arrowood Wines and now with Amapola Creek, stopped by to visit and dine with us at Trax. Whether it was Richard's outstanding wines, or the menu I prepared for the evening that made the meal special is up for debate. What I know I'll remember most is how Richard took the time to let me introduce him around the restaurant to our loyal clientele. I'm happy to consider him a friend. Here's a photo of Mr. Arrowood, Chef Reynolds & me in the kitchen after dinner. Below you'll find a list of some of my favorite Amapola wines.

We have a lot going on this month including a new prix fixe t-bone steak dinner for 2, Dining Out for Life on Thursday, April 25, Rock 'n Roll on the patio on Friday, May 3, Mother's Day on Sunday, May 12.

WINES

Wine-master Richard Arrowood has been making wine in California for a long time. When I meet him in 1983 he was the wine maker for Chateau St. Jean in Sonoma. He is an innovator and was one of the first winemakers to identify specific estates where he was sourcing grapes from and put them on the label, now common practice. After leaving St Jean he created his namesake winery Arrowood Wines. He and his wife, Alis, recently sold Arrowood Wines and moved not to far away to Amapola Creek. Amapola Creek a very special place on the western slope of the Mayacamas Mountains. While in Pennsylvania he visited us at Trax and we were happy to sample his wines and cook for Richard. These wines are now available at the PLCB specialty stores listed below:

Amapola Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 for $59.99 in these stores: Newton, Ardmore, Maple Glen, Flourtown, Whitemarsh, Swedes Square. Code 45974

Amapola Creek Zinfandel Monte Rosse 2009 for $35.99 in these stores: Whitemarsh, Swedes Square, Chestnut Hill. Code 45975
